This Friday, March 8, Rachida Dati launches the project, desired by Emmanuel Macron, of six contemporary stained glass windows for Notre-Dame de Paris.
From the Salon des Maréchaux, the Minister of Culture will install an artistic committee chaired by the former director of the National Museum of Modern Art, Bernard Blistène.
Made up of 20 members, heritage curators, artists, members of the Diocese of Paris, the Public Establishment for Notre-Dame and the Ministry of Culture, it will be responsible for launching a call for applications, then designating a winning pair ( an artist and a glass workshop), in November 2024. Then on December 7, the cathedral's opening day to the public (the next day being a dedicated time), the stained glass prototype should be presented in the cathedral.
Objective: manufacturing figurative stained glass windows in the workshop, for installation in six chapels on the south aisle, probably in 2026.
