Wartenberg - Market councilors, especially the CSU parliamentary group, are criticizing the policies of the Bavarian state government

Wartenberg – The Wartenberg market town council will probably decide on the 2024 budget in unchanged form at the meeting in April.

With only three votes against, the administration was given the task of preparing the documents in the version presented by the committee.

However, there was sharp criticism of the federal government, and especially the state government, from all groups.

The harshly worded comments came particularly from the ranks of the CSU, even though the CSU is the larger of the two government parties in Munich and provides the Prime Minister.

Michael Pröbst (CSU) demanded: “We simply have to think further than this state government.” If 40 percent of the budget is in the area of child care, but at the state level it is only four percent, you can see the discrepancy.

Markus Straßberger (CSU) said: “The state government is counteracting its own goals with this policy.

It is currently working against the state with the chronic underfinancing of the municipalities.” Josef Sedlmaier (CSU) recalled the location conditions, which are not the best in Wartenberg anyway: “The others don’t have a tonnage-limited bridge.” That’s why the record trade tax is 450 percent enormously harmful.

Franz Gerstner (CSU) sounded the same horn: “We have to make sure we become competitive again.”

Mayor Christian Pröbst had made it clear that the budget could be approved, but emphasized: “If you look at the budget, it is not good.” This was referring to the trade tax, which he would have loved to reduce again, but: “For us "It's legally imposed that we have to balance the budget." He also opened the line of criticism of the government: "We're being left hanging, and I think that's a shame.

“It can’t go on like this.” This was particularly true when it came to child care: “Something’s not right,” said Pröbst.

Eduard Ertl (Neue Mitte) recalled his old suggestion to work more with long-term leases because this money flows into the tight administrative budget.

Nikolaus Hintermaier (FDP) said that people had lived beyond their means for years and that was now taking revenge.

Michael Paulini (SPD) was just as dissatisfied as everyone else, comparing the situation to a chronically ill patient with high blood pressure who was resorted to “bloodletting”.

There was “concentrated work” in the committee, but he also saw the budgetary risks: “Reserves?

None.”
