Markus Söder uploaded a photo on Instagram in honor of the CSU women.

But the Prime Minister also has to listen to criticism.

Munich – March 8th is International Women’s Day.

It was created before the First World War on the initiative of socialist organizations in the fight for equal rights, women's suffrage and the emancipation of women workers.

Conditions are better today, but Equal Pay Day alone shows that there is still a long way to go.

On the occasion of International Women's Day, Söder celebrated the "strong women in the CSU" on Instagram - but has to listen to criticism when it comes to the actual numbers.

Women are also still underrepresented in politics - for example in the government of Prime Minister Markus Söder.

Some users on Instagram find it a bit strange that he is now celebrating International Women's Day in a very public way.

Söder celebrates the women in the CSU - there aren't many of them

“I’m proud of our strong #women in the #CSU.

We want even more women in important political leadership positions.

Only together we are strong.

#weltfrauentag2024,” Söder wrote about an Instagram post showing a photo of eleven women in the CSU.

It seems a bit strange that Bavaria is at the bottom of the list compared to the other federal states in Germany when it comes to the quota of women.

There are only three CSU ministers in Söder's current cabinet.

“3 out of 13. Or 23 percent.

These are Markus Söder’s problem numbers,” an Instagram user quotes an article from

bayerische-staatszeitung.de

under the post .

Among other things, it explains how gradually fewer women made it into Söder's cabinet.

At the end of the last legislative period there were still four women, almost 31 percent.

Bayern bottom in Germany – Söder himself not happy about the proportion of women?

Together with coalition partner Free Voters, Bavaria is at the bottom of Germany when it comes to the proportion of women in government, writes

bayerische-staatszeitung.de

.

This only comes to 22 percent.

There was criticism of this from the Greens, among others; Katharina Schulze called it a “show of poverty” after the government was formed in November 2023.

Meanwhile, according to the report, it was said from CSU circles that CSU boss Söder himself was not happy about the small number of women in his own cabinet - but at the same time it was an issue that no longer had the same high level of social relevance, for example still at the penultimate government formation.

At that time, Söder loudly called for a women's quota for CSU district boards, but this was rejected by the grassroots.

In 2022, according to bayerische-staatszeitung.de

, Söder collected

the claim again.
