A traffic accident on the A8 between a Mini and a truck leads to significant traffic delays.

Bernauer Berg – A traffic accident occurred on the A8 late in the morning of Friday, March 8th, in the slope area of the Bernauer Berg towards Munich.

According to initial investigations, a Mini, driven by an 83-year-old from the neighboring district, broke down in the right lane due to a breakdown.

A following tractor-trailer was able to recognize the dangerous situation just in time and avoid it.

However, a 59-year-old truck driver of another semi-trailer from another EU country was no longer able to brake in time, which led to the accident.

Rescue helicopter was dispatched

The driver of the Mini suffered moderate injuries.

There were initially reports of several people being injured, which led to a rescue helicopter being dispatched to the scene.

According to initial findings, however, it turned out that the mini driver's injuries were not too serious.

He was taken to hospital for further care and monitoring.

Backlog to the Chiemsee car park

The Autobahn 8 was completely closed in the direction of Munich for a short time.

In order to rescue the accident vehicles, two lanes had to be closed for around 1.5 hours, which meant that traffic could only drive past the accident site in one lane.

The volunteer fire department from Bernau, several patrols from the Rosenheim traffic police, the highway maintenance department and the rescue service with a helicopter and other rescue vehicles were in action.

Due to the heavy traffic in the direction of Munich, a backlog developed up to the Chiemsee car park.
