An old tradition will be revived at the Forsthaus Wörnbrunn on Saturday, March 9th: the strong beer festival is returning.
Wörnbrunn
– The Wörnbrunn forester's lodge is apparently in good hands with Florian Gürster and his wife Yvonne Mehrfeld.
The 200 seats on the terrace, 180 in the restaurant and 250 seats in the barn want to be used: On Saturday, March 9th, at 7 p.m., the strong beer festival, which was thought to be dead, will experience a revival.
49-year-old Florian Gürster has close ties to the Isar Valley, grew up in Grünwald and Harlaching and at some point discovered the strong beer festival in Wörnbrunn with his friends.
In his own words, he spent great evenings in the gallery.
At the time, he probably wouldn't have considered that he would one day act as a host.
Hearty atmosphere with an Oktoberfest band
He also visited the inn with his family when he was young and, according to his taste, the ambience and the food are basically the same today as they were back then.
Also when it comes to quality.
Of course they adapted to the times, “but even back then it was mega.”
In any case, it's no wonder that the 49-year-old wants to revive this beautiful tradition on his own.
But one thing is also clear: he doesn't want to make the strong beer festival a political focus like in Richard Süßmeier's time.
Maybe in the future.
At the moment, however, it should be a celebration for the people of Grünwald and everyone around them and thus add a traditional touch.
The strong beer festival is already well booked, and many regular customers who have been acquired in recent years have announced their presence.
Anyone who wants to come can buy a strolling ticket, a fixed seat or a seat with a menu.
Although there are not yet a few thousand guests like at the Nockherberg.
But the ambience should still be very hearty with the tried and tested Oktoberfest band Nachtstark.
Florian Gürster: “We experienced them in an Oktoberfest tent.
They’re really casual, create a great atmosphere and really get you going.”
Tegernsee Quirinus is served
The festival will take place on different levels, including the outdoor area.
The Tegernsee Quirinus, a dark Doppelbock, and other strong beer classics are served.
However, you have to be very careful with the strong beer.
Florian Gürster: “You can enjoy it, but you usually can’t do more than a little.
That really takes you away.” In the end, the Forsthaus innkeeper is all about ringing in the traditional costume season.
The champagne bar is also open.
The celebrity scene gets what it wants.
The summer months are the host's favorite
When the restaurateur reflects on the past five years in Wörnbrunn, the first thing that comes to mind is the leaden Corona years.
The kiosk that was set up in the meantime was good for marketing by offering a delivery service.
But it had to be dismantled at the end of the pandemic because the terrace with its beautiful seats was more important.
Florian Güster's favorite times are the summer months, when there is a pleasant atmosphere in the lounge with a little music.
On Sundays, childcare has become commonplace with two to three tutors who do crafts with the little ones.
The many cyclists, in leisure or sport mode, also enliven the forester's house.
FC Bayern also comes here
The Grünwalder innkeeper can highlight the brunch days at Easter and also before Christmas.
Here he sees confirmation that his Wörnbrunn concept is working.
“We could double or triple the entire house.” He remembers happy birthdays for music producer Ralph Siegel, for example.
But FC Bayern also comes here, celebrated its family day and also held an emergency meeting.
The special thing about Wörnbrunn: the peace and quiet within the idyllic clearing island.
“There’s no one bothering you.”
