A chocolatier in a remote Scottish port, Fiona McArthur was chosen to make the chocolates for the 96th Academy Awards. And this, to his greatest surprise.

Nothing predestined Fiona McArthur to imagine chocolates for the biggest names in cinema.

Originally from Campbeltown, a small remote port in the west of Scotland, this 37-year-old chocolatier was nevertheless chosen to make the sweets for the 96th Oscars ceremony.

Prepared in his shop called Fetcha Chocolates, his chocolates flew to Hollywood and will land, on March 11, in the nominees' gift bags.

Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone and even Cillian Murphy will then discover vegan creations, composed of rice milk powder and water ganache, free of alcohol, gluten, milk and eggs.

for the Oscars ceremony, Fiona McArthur initially thought it was a hoax.

The surprise was even such that to this day, she still has to pinch herself to believe it: “They will all have one of my boxes of chocolates.

People like Cillian Murphy, Bradley Cooper, Lily Gladstone, Emma Stone, it’s incredible,” she told AFP from her shop.

To take on this major challenge, the chocolatier simply started by going to the cinema.

In the small local art-deco theater in her town, with a notebook under her arm, Fiona McArthur saw a myriad of films in competition.

From his notes were born six vegan chocolates.

In a plastic-free box, Cillian Murphy will discover a yellow and orange truffle, hiding a sparkling candy: “Its shell is hard so when you bite, it explodes, in a way, in your mouth”, detailed the chocolatier to our AFP colleagues.

At the antipodes, Barbie chocolate takes the silhouette of a heart, pink of course, combining flavors of strawberry and rose: “They are roughly cut, a bit like her journey through Barbieland to the real world.

It was not a smooth journey, it was full of angles,” observes the chocolatier.
