It was the first time they went to the nightclub, which was called “Pasión por Tango” and was located in the city of Auckland,

What she did not imagine was that
her life would take a 180 degree turn

“From that moment on,
tango was part of my life
.
My husband introduced me to Argentine culture and
I adopted it as my own
,” says Liza Kharoubi Echenique in an interview with
Clarín
.
The
45-year
-old woman - from
France
-
made the decision to emigrate to Argentina with her partner in 2017
, with the aim of changing her life and fleeing the terrorist attacks that took place in her country.
“At the same time, I was convinced that the
Argentine Republic
would give me the opportunity to reinvent myself and
I was not wrong
,” says the Frenchwoman.
The most Argentinian Frenchwoman
The protagonist of this story was born in the port city of Marseille, in the
south of France
.
Since she was little, she felt captivated by the world of philosophy and upon finishing high school, in
1998
,
she began two parallel degrees
: the Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy and the Bachelor's Degree in Anglo-American Studies.
After a while, in
2003
, he completed a doctorate in English Literature and Philosophy at the historic
Sorbonne University in Paris
.
Additionally, during her graduate studies,
she played the role of philosophy professor
at the same institution.
Three years later, in
2006
,
she won a scholarship
to teach and complete her studies at
Oxford University in England
.
A year later, in
2007

he chose to start a postdoctoral degree
on the relationship between contemporary ethical philosophy and literature, at the
University of Auckland, in New Zealand
.
There, she was hired to work in the college's French department, where she conducted research projects.
The surprising thing is that
she was about to meet the man of her life, thousands of miles from her home

Liza chose to go

Unconsciously,
she found herself dancing Argentine milonga
,
a musical genre that fascinated her
.
There, she met Diego, the owner of the establishment and
from that moment on, they were inseparable
, according to her.
“With him, I experienced Argentine culture and
discovered my passion: tango
.
This dance
allowed me to connect physically and emotionally with others
, channel energy and balance feelings,” explains Liza.
From that night,
Argentina began to occupy an important place in her heart
and tango became a hobby that
would accompany her forever
.
Together with Diego, a semi-professional tango dancer,
she took dance classes and perfected her level
.

A year later, in
2008

received an invitation to participate in the World Tango Championships

in South Korea
.
Without thinking twice, Diego accepted and they began to train hard every day, according to his words.
“I had to take classical dance classes to improve my posture and learn to spin.
It was an arduous process, but
it was worth the effort
.
After several rounds,
we reached the semifinals
,
it was a dream come true
,” the Frenchwoman expresses with emotion.
“From that wonderful experience,
I felt that I could take my tango shoes anywhere in the world.
In fact, in
2012
, I obtained a research scholarship at
Harvard University
and the first thing I put in my suitcase were tango shoes,” the graduate adds with joy.

After completing their studies, in
2009

they moved to France, but the context of Paris
- the city in which they lived -
was very complex

A few years later, in
2015

Ella Liza suffered the loss of a friend of hers
due to the terrorist attack that took place at the Bataclán Theater.
For this reason, they decided to leave the country.
“In addition, our daughter was four years old and I thought it was
an ideal time to change our lives
and face new challenges
,” says the entrepreneur.
His life in Argentina
As a result of this, in
2017
,
they emigrated to Argentina
and began a different lifestyle.
“This country
changed my life forever
.
I had the opportunity to experience magical destinations, incredible landscapes and wonderful people,” says Liza.

Even during her stay, the Frenchwoman taught classes at the
Torcuato Di Tella University

one of the best business schools in Latin America

2018
, she began working as an independent consultant for a nautical company based in
Miami, United States
.
“I have always admired the entrepreneurial and innovative potential of this nation.
The Argentine Republic encouraged me to be even more ambitious
in my profession
and
not be afraid to dream big
.
And thanks to that, I was encouraged to start a business in the nautical sector,” Liza adds happily.
In this way, after a while,
he had the responsibility of creating and developing a company
called
“&Beyond Yacht Charters”
, in the
United States
Virgin Islands .
“Since I was born, the connection with the sea and the nautical industry
has been part of my essence
,” says the woman.

and fulfill her dreams, in her words.
In addition, every weekend,
she becomes a tanguera
, shines her shoes and
rehearses in her house until her legs no longer give her
, according to her words.
“I have been very happy in Argentina, and I really enjoyed my stay there.
That experience
marked me forever
, ” Liza comments happily.
In the future,
she would like to write a book about her life story
to share her learnings and experiences.
