Electric cars don't stop at muscle cars either: the legendary Dodge Charger will run on electricity in the future.
However, you don't have to do without engine sound.
Auburn Hills/Munich – The electrification craze in the car industry does not stop at combustion engine legends: in 2024, an iconic muscle car will come onto the market as a purely electric car for the first time.
When the new generation of the all-American Dodge Charger is launched, for the first time there is no beefy combustion engine under the hood.
On the one hand, the Charger Daytona EV is the first electric car from the American Stellantis subsidiary, and it is also the first muscle car without a powerful six or eight-cylinder engine.
However, traditionalists can be appeased: the iconic model series does not completely say goodbye to its roots.
Instead, the new Dodge Charger will continue to be offered with a powerful gasoline engine.

However, the most powerful version is reserved for the electric muscle car: There are two different versions, the energy of which is provided by a battery (net capacity 94 kWh).
In the basic electric model Charger Daytona R/T, the power range is 456 hp (340 kW); according to the manufacturer, a further 40 horsepower can be activated for 15 seconds using a short-term power boost (“PowerShot”).
The top model Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack is even faster: the impressive system output here is 630 hp (470 kW), and here, too, a short-term rush of speed is achieved by pressing the “PowerShot” button - which undoubtedly has an impact on the range.
Further performance data (acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, top speed of up to 220 km/h) gets the blood of muscle car fans pumping.
Another high-performance variant is expected to appear in 2025 - with 800-volt technology and possibly even four-digit horsepower,

Muscle car Dodge Charger: exhaust system as a sound replacement
In addition to various driving modes (including drag and drift mode), the electric charger has a special feature: the synthetic replacement for the missing muscle car engine sound.
With the electric evolution, an exhaust system (“Fratzonic”) can optionally be installed, which creates a sound intensity that is otherwise known from the iconic “Hellcat” charger.
But fans of combustion engines are also taken care of: As an alternative to the electric variants, two versions of the Dodge Charger are coming onto the market that offer a classic, genuine engine sound: These muscle cars are powered by a three-liter in-line six-cylinder twin turbo with an output of 420 or 550 hp.
And what prices does the traditional US brand charge for the extraordinary new model?
That hasn't been announced yet.
According to media reports, the Dodge electric car will be available at home for prices between $40,000 and $50,000.
