Highlights: The city of Miami Beach has announced new measures to prevent excesses during Spring Break. Curfews, security searches and random road checks are among the measures. The city has also announced a flat rate for parking in the city's parking garages for non-residents. "It is time to move on," the city says in a video message to its residents and visitors to the city. "We are a law and order city and we will enforce our laws year-round, including during spring break," it adds.

In Florida, partygoers better watch out. Curfews, security searches, early closures of beach entrances and random road checks are notably announced by the municipality.

Soon the end of puddles of beer, urine and vomit on the sidewalks?

This is the whole objective of the city of Miami Beach (Florida), which is preparing for the traditional Spring Break - or spring break in good French.

This period, which begins in mid-March, is marked by the excesses of American students who come to party in large numbers on the beaches of this state in the southeast of the United States.

And to avoid ending up like in a bad Harmony Korine film, the American city has decided to put in place strict measures as part of a campaign with the evocative name: “We're breaking with Spring Break” (“We're breaking with Spring Break” (“We're breaking with Spring Break”). we're breaking up with Spring Break").

“Expect curfews, security searches and bag checks at beach access points, early closures of beach entrances, random traffic checks... road closures and arrests for drug possession or violence

,” announces the American locality on its site.

A message that could not be clearer to students.

“The measures (...) will ensure that our residents, businesses and visitors are safe and can thrive during spring break

,” Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner said in a recent statement.

“Everyone is invited to enjoy the beauty and hospitality of our city.

But we are a law and order city and we will enforce our laws year-round, including during spring break.”

"It is time to move on"

The campaign is also relayed on social networks, through a prevention video which uses the codes of a romantic breakup, but this time directly addressed to an overly alcoholic Spring Break.

“It’s time to move on

,” the video concludes.

This operation, far from being a first for the city of Miami Beach, is accompanied by a reminder of what is prohibited from doing on the region's beaches, such as smoking cigarettes, consuming alcohol or drugs ( or both for the most inspired), but also to play music that is too loud.

In addition, the city will impose a flat rate for parking in garages and double towing rates for non-residents.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis also pledged to increase police force in popular Spring Break destinations, such as Miami Beach, Daytona Beach and Panama City Beach.

So many measures aim to stop the excesses of past years, marked by violence and degradation of the highest order.
