Nathalie* is almost 55 years old.
The territorial civil servant spent a large part of her life part-time, or more precisely, part-time.
The objective?
Taking care of her two children on Wednesdays.
Like nearly 31% of French mothers who have already worked, Nathalie has not held a full-time job because of her children, reports a study by the Directorate of Research, Studies, Evaluation and Statistics (Drees), published in March.
In detail, 16% are unemployed (compared to 4% of fathers) and 15% are part-time (compared to 1% of fathers).
Mothers therefore take
breaks or stoppages in their careers

much more frequently
” than fathers

for reasons related to children
”,
concludes the Drees.
