On May 4, 2021 in Mérignac, in the Bordeaux metropolitan area, Chahinez Daoud, 31, mother of three children, was shot in the legs, then burned alive in the street, two months after filing a complaint - poorly recorded by the police - against her separated spouse.
Mounir Boutaa, 44, who had just been released from prison after being convicted of domestic violence in 2020, was arrested half an hour later in a neighboring town, carrying a hunting rifle and an automatic pistol. and a cartridge belt.

“Failure” on the part of the police
The first charge of indictment, intentional homicide, was subsequently reclassified as murder at the request of the civil party and it was retained by the investigating judge, in accordance with the requisitions of the prosecution, in his order of indictment. accusation against which the accused can appeal.

The affair led the government to launch an inspection mission on the conditions of release and monitoring of the ex-husband.

, while an investigation by the General Inspectorate of the National Police pointed out mistakes and errors of assessment.
Five police officers were subject to disciplinary sanctions, including the Gironde departmental police director and the Mérignac commissioner in office at the time.
They had failed to inform their superiors and the inspection mission that the police officer who had incorrectly recorded the victim's complaint had himself been accused of domestic violence.
The latter had been removed from the police force.
