Handed over to the police, the 42-year-old man who fatally struck a 76-year-old woman was sentenced on appeal on February 16 to three years in prison.

Faced with this administrative coldness, a fund was launched to help him buy another vehicle.

“I found it so unfair that he couldn't even go to work anymore,” recalls Cathy Meunier, who, moved by this story, launched this outpouring of solidarity.

Thanks to donations from 723 people, 13,000 euros were raised.

Yaya Sow was able to purchase his utility vehicle, 142,000 km on the clock, from a garage in La Rochelle (Charente-Maritime), pay for his insurance and equip the vehicle.

“I can never thank enough all these people who generously participated,” greets the man who has since… changed insurer!
