There are rumblings in the Active Citizens' Association (ABV): Rudi Reber and Carsten Brockmann complained at the most recent Waakirchner municipal council meeting that nothing is making progress in the town center.

Your accusation: The community is not doing justice to the will of the citizens.

Waakirchen

- Rudi Reber was upset when he asked the local council for a status report on the Waakirchen town center.

The third mayor reviewed the previous stages of the project: referendum 2019;

Founding of the working group with Balthasar Brandhofer as chairman, who was present at the meeting and to whom Reber warmly thanked for the work with the well-founded query of citizens' wishes and 800 responses;

the clear Lego model by Resi Obermüller, which shows the possible development of the meadow between the future town hall and the Bäckervoitl property;

the event in the parish hall with technical support from district architect Christian Boiger;

the presentation of the city planner Vera Winzinger at the citizens' meeting.

But Reber had not yet progressed far enough in the process: “We now have to look into the funding,” he demanded impatiently.

He would like the community to finally commission a specialist office to create a village development concept.

“All signs point to village renewal.

We have invested a double-digit million amount for this,” clarified Reber, referring to the multi-generational project that is being built in Schaftlach, the affordable housing that is being developed in Piesenkam, and the savings bank building that the municipality has acquired and will convert into the town hall.

The community is already living the village renewal, Reber noted.

Brockmann criticizes inaction

Group colleague Carsten Brockmann complained: “Although reference was made repeatedly to the referendum on the re-planning of the town center, there is no local council decision in this regard.” The unrest among the population and the working group is therefore great.

Brockmann criticized the inaction and demanded that the community finally take ownership of what the local council and citizens have decided.

It hasn't even been decided yet which funding sources you want to take advantage of - urban funding or local renewal?

Three years have now passed, Reber said angrily.

He called for thinking outside the box and involving the neighborhood and finding out what was planned for the Christlwirt and the Gschwandtner property.

Kerkel rejects allegations

Mayor Norbert Kerkel (FWG) made it clear: “We currently have a good standing with the population and so we will continue.” In addition, people have definitely sought to talk to the neighbors.

The alleged sale of the Christlwirt was a rumor, Kerkel replied.

We are in contact with the Gschwandtner family.

“But I don’t ask every day,” he made it clear.

Michael Mohrenweiser (ABV) then followed up again.

“It was never decided whether we were planning for urban development funding or village renewal.

“We should decide on this as soon as possible,” demanded Mohrenweiser.

No decision was made that evening.
