The City deported a criminal of Chilean nationality who had
three robbery attempts in two months
.
“Our city has no place for foreigners who come to commit crimes: we must expel them.
We continue working every day to comply with our main premise of order and security," celebrated the Head of the Buenos Aires Government, Jorge Macri.
The deportee was identified as
Iván Marcelo Cartes Riffo
(44), who lived in the Abasto area.
The criminal had committed his first attempted robbery on October 18 of last year, where he wanted to take a sewing machine from an appliance house, when he was seen by the sellers he managed to flee.
Then, three days later, he tried to rob the same premises again, but this time he was arrested.
However,
in less than a month he was released from prison
.
His last opportunity was the day before Christmas, where he entered a home with two people and tried to rob it.
His two accomplices manage to flee, but the Police manage to arrest Riffo.
" Undocumented
foreigners who commit crimes
have no place in our City and we must expel them. Out!", the Head of Government wrote on social networks.
For this last crime he was convicted of
doubly aggravated robbery
for having been committed in a town and in a gang, with burglary and for attempted theft.
The sentence handed down by the Oral Criminal and Correctional Court No. 10 was one year and seven months in prison.
In addition, they requested expulsion from the country and a permanent ban on re-entry, decreed by the National Directorate of Migration.
They put the thief on a plane to Chile and prohibited him from entering the country.
In this sense, the thief was taken this Friday, March 8, to the Jorge Newbery Airport with its final destination Santiago de Chile by personnel from the Detainee Transfer and Transportation Division of the City Police.
This is the
second foreign criminal who was deported in 2024
.
The previous one was a thief, also of Chilean nationality, who had been captured by the City Police stealing from an electronics store in the Once neighborhood in February.
The extradition took place in less than a month and was after a flagrante delicto process by the Criminal and Correctional Court No. 7 of the Nation, which ordered the sentencing of the two adult detainees.
The ruling also ordered the deportation through Immigration of Alen Alejandro Escamilla Flores, 23 years old.
“So far this year we have already detained
335 foreign criminals
.
We are going to continue working jointly with Justice and the National Government.
For our part, we will continue to promote the importance of restoring immigration decree 70/2017 to accelerate the process of expulsion of foreign criminals,” said the Minister of City Security, Waldo Wolff.

For his part, the Secretary of Security and Chief of the City Police, Diego Kravetz, celebrated the measure through the social network “X”.
“We continue with the conviction of working so that those foreigners who come to the City to commit crimes are sent to their country of origin.
The safety of the people of Buenos Aires is our priority.
It is with order,” he emphasized.
In the City of Buenos Aires, four out of every ten homicides are committed by foreigners, while 355 citizens of other countries have already been arrested so far this year.
