The Olympic flame will be lit on April 16, but it is already present in Bezons (Val-d'Oise).
This Saturday March 9, 2024, the town organized a ceremony for the launch of the “flame of union”.
This is a local version of the five-ringed torch which is due to arrive in Marseille on May 8 and then travel throughout the country.
Well, almost the whole country, because although the Olympic flame will cross Val-d'Oise on July 19, its route does not pass through Bezons.
“We applied, but we were not selected,” confides Nessrine Menhaouara (PS), the town hall of Bezons.
It was the Val-d'Oise departmental council which set the stages of the flame's journey.
It will cover a 30 km route from Théméricourt to Soisy-sous-Montmorency, passing through Cergy, Pontoise, Sarcelles, Garges-lès-Gonesse and Argenteuil, in particular.
At the end of the day, the last bearer of the flame will set the Olympic cauldron ablaze at the Enghien racecourse.
