President Joe Biden signed the $460 billion package approved by Congress this Saturday, before the deadline for closing many key federal agencies expired.
The initiative, which contains six annual spending bills, leaves lawmakers halfway in finalizing appropriations for the 2024 budget year.
Lawmakers are negotiating a second package with six other bills, including the defense bill, in an effort to get all federal agencies funded for the year by the March 22 deadline.
The Senate had approved on Friday by 75 votes in favor and 22 against the financing bill to keep a series of agencies afloat until September.
The 1,050-page package signed by Biden is a set of six bills negotiated by top congressional leaders, both Democrats and Republicans.
It funds the departments of Justice, Commerce, Agriculture, Transportation and many other parts of the Government.
