It was the biggest day in Edelweiß Hohenbachern's club history.
On Thursday evening, the 2024 Gauschiessen opened with a huge party in the clubhouse.
Hohenbachern
– Everyone with rank and name came to Hohenbachern for the starting signal.
Over the next two weeks, the entire district will be watching the small town just outside Freising.
District rifle master Valentin Harrieder confirmed that the club was very tough: “It really took a long time for the people of Hohenbach to say yes to district shooting.” His predecessor, Hans Mock, had repeatedly pushed the club, once hosting the largest sporting event in the region to be a district.
MdL Benno Zierer from the neighboring town of Kleinbachern was visibly proud of his club.
He was once a shooting champion for four years and set the course for the construction of the clubhouse.
MP Erich Irlstorfer had a surprise in store for the around 50 helpers at the event (“Shooting is a cultural heritage and a Bavarian tradition”).
He invited the helpers to a four-day bus trip in Berlin with a tour of the Bundestag: “You can watch me work there.”
The mayor of Freising, Tobias Eschenbacher, provided the saying of the day: “Last year we had the District Riflemen’s Day in Freising, and the Hohenbachern district shooting is the improvement.” District Rifleman Master Valentin Harrieder took the line in a sporty manner and then left the shooting master Hubert Lachner to tap the beer keg , which opened the Gau Shooting this time.
The ceremony in the sports center on the day before the start of the sporting competition was one of several innovations.
Now 1,700 or more shooters are expected in Hohenbachern by Sunday, March 24th.
