Premier Giorgia Meloni said Saturday that of the achievements made since taking office in October2022 she was most satisfied by the economic results.

"Of the results obtained" since assuming government "those that have given us the most satisfaction are the economic data", with a "record number of people in employment", "stable contracts" and "female employment", said Meloni at the signing of the Development and Cohesion Agreement between the government and the Umbria regional authorities in Bastia Umbra.

"Yesterday was 8 March" and it was "one of the most brilliant", continued the prime minister referring to International Women's Day.

On Friday Italy's first female prime minister said that "thanks to the support of concrete policies implemented by our government, we have promoted female employment , the results of which - certified by Istat data - make us particularly proud".

"However, we cannot stop here. We are aware that there are still challenges ahead and we will continue to work with determination to guarantee women a better future in which they can realize their full potential, without having to choose between life and work," she added.

Meloni also spoke of "families' real disposable income" and of the reduction in the risk of poverty.

On Wednesday ISTAT said the risk of poverty fell from 20% to 18.8% in 2023 as a result of changes to the tax and benefits system, and that overall inequality in the distribution of disposable income also fell slightly, from 31.9% to 31.7%.
