Five finalists, 10,000 euros in prize money.

The Gastro Founder's Prize was awarded at the Internorga trade fair in Hamburg.

The winner: A food trucker from Feldafing.

Hamburg/Munich – Together with her father, Franziska Weidner from Feldafing traveled to Hamburg to compete for victory in the German Gastro Startup Prize together with four other candidates.

The word “together” is deliberately used here instead of the word “against” - after all, the concept with which she should be successful on Friday, March 8th is based on precisely such togetherness.

As a food trucker who joined her father in the business during the Corona pandemic, the young founder lives the fair's motto “All together” like no other of the five finalists.

“We are all the same,” says the trained event manager for her start-up, in which she wants to bring the food truck industry closer together.

“There are over cuisines from all different corners of the world,” explains Weidler to her audience, who will later vote for her in first place.

But far too often they are lone fighters, each carrying around very similar problems and worries.

Food trucker from Bavaria impresses the audience with her cooperative business model

She wants to change that with her project – she is now self-employed.

Food Trucks United has been a registered company since November.

The more than 150 food truckers taking part are not competitors, but colleagues.

This is also clear in their pitch, the presentation at the Internorga trade fair in Hamburg.

It's about a common platform, event planning and help in difficult situations.

Cooperatively, not against each other.

She convinced the audience in Hamburg and in the live stream.

As the winner, the entrepreneur from Bavaria will receive 10,000 euros in prize money and free start-up advice from the co-organizers of the Founder's Prize from the Leaders Club Germany, in which restaurateurs work voluntarily for founders.

On Friday, Franziska Weidner prevailed against two start-ups from Hamburg, one from Berlin and one from Tyrol.

They each brought innovative gastronomic concepts and, like Food Truck United, had previously prevailed against around 100 other applicants in two preliminary rounds.

The prize has been awarded for the ninth time since 2014.

Among others, two founders from Emden-Norddeich were among the top 10 of the competition with their beach café Watt N' Blick.

The German Gastro Founder's Award has a permanent place at the Internorga in Hamburg

At the five-day Internorga in Hamburg, the German Gastro Startup Prize is a fixture on Friday afternoons.

The leading international trade fair for hotels, restaurants, bakeries and pastry shops brings together established companies and innovative start-ups, including in the areas of sustainability, artificial intelligence and against the background of the constant shortage of personnel in the sectors.

“We are sure that we will hear a lot from all five finalists.”
