Construction work is underway at the school in Benediktbeuern this year.

After the severe hailstorm, which also damaged the roof of the Benediktbeuren elementary and middle school, the renovation work is to be carried out during the summer holidays this year.
But this is not the only construction project this year.
Benediktbeuern - As part of the budget discussions, the members of the school association also discussed the planned measures at the local bus stop at their most recent meeting.
According to the school association chairman and Benedictine mayor Anton Ortlieb, this should be converted to be barrier-free during the summer holidays - an investment that is budgeted at around 120,000 euros.
Funding amount: around 82,000 euros.
Overall, the school association is planning investments this year with a total volume of around 276,000 euros.
These are to be financed through the reserves and the investment levy of the member communities.
In addition to the barrier-free conversion of the bus stop, the plans also include the renovation of the cycling hall (own contribution: 30,000 euros), the construction of a photovoltaic system (52,000 euros) and the installation of a climbing frame in the school yard (5,000 euros).
Overall, the school association with its six member communities is responsible for a budget with a total volume of 1.3 million euros this year.
Last year it was over 1.4 million euros.
The most important income in the administrative budget this year is allocations from the state, for example for school transport.
The administrative budget is being burdened by sometimes significant increases in expenditure in a wide variety of areas, such as energy and cleaning.
Expenses for gymnasiums are increasing
As far as the gymnasium is concerned, treasurer Florian Hlawatsch points out in his preliminary budget report that although the expenses for the hall for energy and cleaning are constantly increasing, at the same time the use of the gymnasium by clubs has decreased since Corona.
This also changed the usage relationship between the school association and the administrative community.

The necessary renovation of the school building roof has no impact on the budget, explained Ortlieb.
Prior to this measure, discussions were currently underway with an expert about the scope of the work.
Exactly how much is broken is not yet clear.
“In the worst case scenario, the entire roof has to be replaced,” said the mayor.

Due to the numerous planned projects, a withdrawal of around 123,000 euros is planned from the reserves.
This means that the level of reserves will be reduced to around 127,000 euros by the end of the year.
There is no provision for taking out a loan.
The debt reduction decided by the school association should be continued.
At the end of the year, the liabilities should be around 207,000 euros.
The budget was unanimously approved by the members of the school association.
By the way, a total of 355 students visited the facility in October 2023.
