Construction projects, energy - and the radishes in the mayor's garden: the citizens' meeting's agenda included not only inquiries about asylum accommodation in Warngau, but also numerous infrastructure projects.

Holzkirchen - Mayor Christoph Schmid (CSU) prepared for the almost four-hour citizens' meeting on Wednesday evening with glucose and tea.

Before he addressed the requests for asylum accommodation in Warngau in the fully occupied hall (we reported), he gave an overview of all the projects that Holzkirchen has tackled, continued or completed in 2023.

The people of Holzkirchen also voted on whether the local council would have to deal with the applications that had been submitted to the meeting in the next three months.

An overview:

New middle school building

Craftsmen are currently assembling the wooden facade elements on the new building, which began in May 2023 (we reported).

They also carry out roof waterproofing work.

The heating, plumbing, ventilation and drywall trades are scheduled to begin work in April.

Fire in the children's area

The amount of damage has now been determined: According to Schmid, the costs for the renovation of the daycare center on Erich-Kästner-Straße amount to around 520,000 euros.

Insurance covered most of the costs.

As reported, arsonists set the fire on November 1, 2022.

The investigation has now been discontinued.

Gas drilling

Schmid assumes that the Terrain Energy company will not drill for gas in the Holzkirchen underground.

Although the Ministry of Economic Affairs' examination of the project has not yet been completed, in his personal opinion the search would probably be uneconomical given the current gas prices.

In addition, undertakings are fundamentally difficult if they encounter such rejection locally.

As reported, Holzkirchen has the full support of neighboring communities and the district in his rejection of natural gas drilling.

Schmid thanked them for this solidarity.

New marketplace

As reported, the local council decided at the end of 2022 to change the scope of the market square in order to redesign it.

Accordingly, Münchner Straße and the Tölzer Straße intersection should be integrated into the planning.

An office is now preparing the plans for this area in coordination with the Rosenheim State Building Authority.

They should be presented to the local council for a vote in the first half of 2024.

Valley way

There has been a road construction site on Valleyer Weg and Angerstraße since September.

There were delays here, not least due to the early and unexpectedly severe onset of winter.

A temporary asphalt surface was installed to enable residents to access their homes even in winter conditions.

Water and electricity are to be installed in the new sidewalk over the course of the year.

At the end of the year, the top layer is to be applied and the paved area is to be created in the area of the level crossing.

Seed library

Since March, hobby gardeners have been able to borrow seeds from the community library - an idea from North America.

“I myself sowed radish seeds from the library in my raised bed and have already harvested them,” said Schmid.

However, he confessed that he was then at a loss as to how he would get the seeds, which he would have to bring back on loan.

He was then shown this by the horticultural club: “I learned how the cycle of seed production can work away from the supermarket checkout.”

Applications

A total of eight applications were received, but only two made it to the local council.

On the one hand, the idea of creating inclusion playgrounds.

According to the disability representatives, one of the 37 playgrounds in Holzkirchen already has inclusion equipment, the one at Maitz.

Retrofitting would also be conceivable in the playground on Hospital Street and Flintspach Street.

In addition, at the request of the citizens, the local council will look into better implementation of the house number statute.

The applicant had criticized the fact that many house numbers were not clearly visible - a serious hurdle for the emergency services.

“The building administration welcomes this application,” said Schmid.
