The Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle said this Friday that she was the victim of “cyberharassment and bullying” when she was pregnant with her two children, Archie and Lilibet, reports the BBC.
The American actress and wife of Prince Harry spoke at a conference organized on the occasion of International Women's Day in Austin, Texas (United States).
The couple has lived in the United States since 2020, it is in this country that Lilibet, their daughter, was born in 2021, two years after her big brother Archie.
“It’s not stupid, it’s cruel”
Faced with the violence of the comments received on social networks, Meghan Markle spoke of an “infinite toxicity” which has pushed her to stay away from these platforms since.
“Most of the cyberstalking and bullying I experienced on social media and online took place when I was pregnant with Archie and Lili,” she insisted, as Prince Harry attended at the event.

“We think about it and we think about it and we wonder why people are so mean.
It’s not rude, it’s cruel,” lamented Meghan Markle.
She also protested that women were “spewing” their hatred at each other online: “I can’t understand that.
If you read something terrible about a woman, why are you sharing it with your friends?
If it were your friend, your mother or your daughter, you wouldn't do it.

The former actress in the cast of the series “Suits”, aged 42, also addressed other themes during this conference ranging from the importance of the representation of diversity to the representation of motherhood in cinema and entertainment.

Meghan's last visit to the United Kingdom was in September 2022, following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
