Mexican authorities reported that 100 minors traveling alone were sent back to Guatemala this Friday.
According to a statement from the National Migration Institute of Mexico (INM), that agency in coordination with the Secretary of the Navy (Semar), and the Navy of that country carried out the humanitarian return to Guatemala of the children, who had traveled to Mexican territory without the company of an adult.

"In total, 106 girls, boys and adolescents boarded the aircraft at the General Ignacio Pesqueira García International Airport of Hermosillo, bound for La Aurora International Airport, located in the capital of Guatemala," the statement said.
The Mexican authorities indicated that on a stopover at the Benito Juárez International Airport of Mexico City (AICM), and during a medical examination, a 9-year-old girl, an 8-year-old boy and a 17-year-old adolescent showed signs of fever. , "so it was determined that they remain in the country until they were stabilized."

"All [...] minors under 18 years of age were under the protection of the Office of the Protection of Girls, Boys and Adolescents, dependent on the System for the Comprehensive Development of the Family (DIF) of the State of Sonora, because [...] were found
unaccompanied by adults
at the time of their rescue," the statement said.
The group was made up of 13 girls and 87 boys, who were transferred on three Mexican Navy flights and were accompanied by child protection officers (OPI) and federal immigration agents from the INM.
