DECRYPTION - The number of malicious acts on the internet has soared in recent years. And the attacks are now formidable.

Sending false SMS messages to trigger a payment, hacking your email to hold you ransom, introducing computer viruses to steal valuable data... The crooks are pulling out all the stops to siphon off your savings, and increasingly via your computer , smartphone or tablet, which today conceal real digital treasures - bank accounts, scanned identity documents, access to tax data...

The number of requests for assistance on the government site Cybermalveillance.gouv.fr, which helps victims of these digital scams or attempted scams, has exploded in recent years.

It has almost tripled since 2020 and climbs further in 2023 (+ 13% over one year) to reach 221,000 requests from individuals.

One of the consequences of the ever-increasing digitalization of personal data, but also of the boom in awareness of the public site, born in 2017.
