The IDF allowed publication this evening (Saturday) that the IDF officer in charge, Major Amisher Ben David, from the settlement of Ali, was killed in battle in the Gaza Strip. Amisher, who served in the commando formation, fell during an encounter with terrorists earlier today. He left behind His wife Shlomit and their five children. Also, the IDF said that an officer in the commando formation was seriously injured in a battle in the southern Gaza Strip - and was referred for medical treatment.
The settlement of Ali announced the death of the fighter and paid tribute to him: "The settlement announces with great sadness the fall of the hero of Israel Amisher ben David in battle. A notice of the funeral date will be given later," they said.
The chairman of the settlement Ali, Ariel Elmaleh, added: "Amisher and I studied together at the 'Bnei David' pre-military preparatory school, my husband, and the news of his death is a knife in the heart.
Amisher had a heart of kindness and help to others and served for many years as the head of the settlement's Mada team, his death is a great loss for our settlement.
We share in the grief of Shlomit, the children and the entire Ben David family, may his memory be blessed."

The Binyamin Regional Council also announced the death of Amisher: "During the heroic battles in Gaza, the reserve fighter Amisher ben David the 14th, a resident of the settlement of Ali in Binyamin, fell.
Amisher was a high school educator, a volunteer as an ambulance driver and a man of kindness for the public in many areas."
The head of the council, Israel Gantz, added: "At the beginning of Shabbat we received the bitter news about Amisher's death.
Our hearts are with dear Shlomit and the tender children.
Amisher enlisted on Simchat Torah and has hardly been home since then.
He served in the PAK of the commando brigade. Thanks to him and thanks to his fellow heroes, the nation of Israel is alive. The whole of Benjamin embraces and strengthens the residents of Ali and especially the members of the Jubilee neighborhood. God will restore his blood."
