In the footsteps of Louis IX – the famous Saint-Louis – and the Cistercian monks, in the heart of an abbey, this is the most unusual brunch of the moment.
On the last Sunday of each month, the abbey of Royaumont (Val-d'Oise) offers a careful buffet "with local colors and seasonal products", under the Gothic vaults of the refectory of lay brothers, frequented by the laity there eight centuries ago.
This Sunday in February, the room fills up little by little from 11:30 a.m. and quickly becomes complete.
“Today we have 110 seats, our maximum, although this is only the second time that we have offered this formula,” confides Jean-Philippe, head waiter.
The decor arouses admiration: “The setting is truly magnificent,” raves Robin, who came from Eaubonne for a family birthday.
