After the transport sector, the building sector in Bavaria is the area that produces the most greenhouse gases year after year.

This could be changed through consistent energy-saving renovation.

The EWO is therefore now starting a large-scale renovation campaign as part of an EU project.

District

- "The renovation rate in Germany is consistently around one percent of the housing stock - sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less," reports Lena Maierhof, who is responsible for the "GOAltbau" project financed by Interreg Bavaria-Austria at Energiewende Oberland (EWO).

Behind the usual unwieldy name lies an attempt to get homeowners in the Oberland to bring their properties up to energy standards.

The need is huge if you just look at the fact that there are around three million unrenovated residential buildings in Bavaria, says Maierhof.

The renovation costs money, there's no need to beat around it.

But no renovation would cost any more money.

Energy consumption reduced to 15 percent

“Many people save and then undertake a single project on the house every now and then,” she reports.

This is undoubtedly laudable, but not really effective.

“It would of course be better to completely renovate straight away,” said the expert.

Because then the investments are higher, but in the long run you save a lot of money due to the drastically reduced energy consumption despite bank interest.

“We are currently collecting practical examples.

And homeowners have often succeeded in reducing their energy costs to an average of 15 percent compared to consumption before the renovation,” says Maierhof.

The prerequisite is a “clever concept”.

Information evenings in the region

And that’s where the “roadshow” she’s currently organizing comes into play.

The Oberland energy transition is going on tour.

The kick-off took place in Waakirchen in January.

“There were over 30 people there, it was definitely worth it, we learned a lot,” said the project manager.

The experiences will be incorporated into the next events.

On March 13th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Ballenhaussaal in Schongau (registration is ongoing), on May 8th in the Flöz in Peißenberg.

Further events are planned for June 12th in Bad Tölz, in July in Weilheim and in the fall in Wolfratshausen and Miesbach.

Nothing should change in the basic idea.

“In principle, it is a low-threshold offer for everyone who lives in a more or less unrenovated house and wants to get basic or thorough information,” says Lena Maierhof.

In the evening you should receive all the information that the energy consultant normally provides in his initial consultation.

The information tour focuses on strong practical benefits for visitors.

A bank advisor is also there

That's why an energy consultant, a bank advisor, a craftsman and someone who has already successfully renovated his house to make it more energy efficient are sitting on the podium.

After the event, they would also be available to answer questions and provide information about existing funding opportunities, said Maierhof.

My news

  • “Women generally pay a high price for their success” - Three women talk about their experiences with leadership positions

  • “The safer you feel, the easier it is to fall in” - police in Weilheim reported shock calls and grandchild trick reading

  • Sale of land due to financial situation: City of Penzberg hopes for many millions

  • Parking crisis in Weilheim: Residents struggle with a lack of space

  • “That was a tricky story” - diving platforms in the “Rigi-Rutsch'n” in Peißenberg were dismantled

  • Wet and slushy: Accidents on the A95 - one driver was particularly bold

It's not about trying to convince someone to do something, she says, calming any fears: "Renovation is worth it if you have to replace a few things anyway," she says.

It rarely makes sense to tear out a natural gas heater that is only a few years old.

To do this, you should get precise advice on which projects can best be implemented in parallel.

It is less effective to just replace the windows if the walls and roof are not insulated at the same time.

Maierhof is currently redesigning the EWO homepage.

The aim here is to provide a better overview of the fundamental questions.

It is also planned to enable renovation checks.

Interested parties only have to enter the basic details of their house and the budget that is available on the homepage.

And the website already presents a roadmap on how best to approach the renovation.

However, these offers are still in preparation and will start in summer 2024 at the latest.
