Gräfelfing – The Gräfelfing building committee had to digest some bad news on Thursday.
As soon as the renovation work on the listed town hall from 1968, which took years and cost millions of euros, seemed to be completed, there was an acute need for action again - albeit at a manageable price of a good 200,000 euros for Gräfelfingen standards.
The town hall's heating system is so outdated, broken and prone to failure that it urgently needs to be renovated and partially replaced this summer.
“It is currently dripping in four places,” said Harald Thoma from the specialist company PSB-Technik at the meeting.
One of the two boilers is 34 years old, the other can only be operated by hand.
The pressure maintenance is defective, combustion air has already called the fire department into action, there is “extreme corrosion on components” and handles are already falling off.
Above all, the expert strongly advised against connecting the extension, which is currently being built on the former parking lot in the west and does not have its own heating, to the old heating system without renovating it.
Thoma: “It is not possible to connect the extension building when it is in proper operation.
There is an urgent need for action.”
Mayor Peter Köstler said: “Unfortunately, we cannot avoid taking action here.” The committee unanimously decided to renew one of the two boilers, as well as to renovate all five pumps and numerous other components and the entire heating system.
The project should now be advertised and planned.
