A helicopter carrying three National Guard members and a Border Patrol agent crashed near the US-Mexico border in Texas on Friday.
Three of the people on board, two soldiers and the Border Patrol agent, died, local officials reported.
According to Eloy Vera, Starr County judge and the highest local official, a fourth person who was on the ship is
in critical condition
.
The accident occurred near the town of La Grulla, in Starr County.

Previously, Victor Escalon, South Texas regional director of that state's Department of Public Safety, quoted by KXAN, had stated that the ship was not part of the so-called Texas Operation Lone Star to control its border with Mexico.

According to a message posted on Facebook by the Starr County Sheriff's Office, local authorities were assisting at the scene.

For her part, former Congresswoman Mayra Flores, who represented the 34th district of Texas in the House of Representatives from 2022 to 2023, published a message on Facebook where she indicated: "Today I am asking for your prayers and support for the Border Patrol and CBP Air Operations and Navy. A tragic helicopter accident just occurred near La Grulla, Texas. My thoughts and prayers are with you."
