Ski resorts are (very) friendly to beginners.
Whether they are children and accompanied by their parents, adults or even seniors, these categories of skiers benefit from multiple advantages: flexible and low-cost packages, entire areas where they have priority or, even, ski lessons with reduced numbers. .
“I would say that today, a small 10% of our ski lessons are dedicated to beginners
,” assesses Jean-Sebastien Lainé, director of the ESF in Les Menuires (Savoie).
We know how to welcome them at all ages and in reduced numbers for group lessons, even if individual lessons tend to progress.
The resorts have every interest in renewing a pool of skiers who have undergone severe weight loss.
And contrary to popular belief, the quality of reception for apprentice skiers, whatever their age, has little to do with the size of the area.
It's a clever mix between, obviously, a slope profile (a majority of green and blue slopes), and a proactive approach.
And it is often in spring that the conditions are most suitable for learning.
“The days are longer, the temperature is milder, you will also find fewer patches of ice and fewer people on the slopes
,” lists Christophe Lavaut, general director of Val d’Isère Tourisme (Savoie).
Some areas have even clearly reoriented themselves towards this target, as the threat to the skiing activity increases.
