The dog duo Yeti and Knut from the Haßberge animal shelter made a TV appearance last Sunday.

The goal?

Finding a new owner – under special conditions.

Knetzgau – The livestock guard dogs Yeti and Knut share a sad fate.

They “were kept isolated on a lonely forest property,” explains Martin Rütter, dog trainer and well-known TV presenter, on his website.

After they were confiscated by the veterinary office due to poor husbandry, they were taken to the Haßberge animal shelter in Lower Franconia.

Now the two are looking for a new home – with celebrity support.

The dog duo was introduced

in a special episode of the RTL program

Die Unvermittelbaren - with Martin Rütter .

And even a third dog from Knetzgau made an appearance in the special edition on Sunday, March 3, 2024.

Special requirement: only joint placement possible

“They are both beautiful and that is exactly their problem,” says Rütter at the beginning of the TV format.

Many interested parties would associate the two with extensive cuddle sessions - but not with their specific requirements.

The two unneutered dogs can only be adopted together.

Knut “sticks” to Yeti, explains the head of the Haßberge animal shelter, Britta Merkel, in an interview with Rütter.

He learns everything from his companion, who is one year older than him - from putting on a leash, to being petted, to going for a walk.

“Cuddly and affectionate” but also has a slight hunting instinct

Knut is a Pyrenean mountain dog who was born in mid-2022.

He is very independent and gets along with other dogs, according to the animal shelter's website.

The Marremen-Abruzzo Shepherd Dog Yeti was born in 2021.

“He is cuddly and affectionate and has a slight hunting instinct,” explains the animal shelter.

Because of their herd protection nature, they are very family-oriented.

Nevertheless, they could also easily spend time alone.

Since the two four-legged friends were previously used to being kept outside, they mostly stay outside.

“Both would be happy with a family with a large property where they have the opportunity to spend time outside,” explains the animal shelter.

In addition, the new owners should not have any cats or small children, Rütter informs.

“Actually no chance”: mediation still succeeded

The dog Ivy has already been successfully adopted.

She was also part of the TV show.

But Yeti and Knut were not the only four-legged friends from Knetzgau who made their big appearance in

Die Unvermittelbaren

on Sunday .

The 9-year-old Cane Corso dog Yvi was also introduced - but not for adoption.

It has already found new owners.

For Martin Rütter, Yvi is an “absolute symbol of the uncommunicable”.

“Actually, no chance.

Then we looked for a long time and then found the needle in the haystack,” he explains in his broadcast.

She was the victim of mistreatment - abused for dog fights, her ears and tail were cropped.

The dog Yvi has already found a new home.

It remains to be seen whether Knut and Yeti will also be able to look forward to new owners soon.

Your TV appearance was certainly a good help for this project.
