FDP parliamentary group leader Christian Dürr supports the stock pension in the new Ampel pension package.

Generational capital is crucial for the future of retirement.

Berlin – With the new pension package, the traffic light not only wants to stabilize pensions, but also put them on a secure footing in the future.

While Labor Minister Heil (SPD) and Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) presented their draft for Pension Package II last week, economist Martin Werding calculates which group will be “burdened most heavily” by the new pension package.

“Reform of the century for Germany”: share pensions ensure “secure pensions and low contributions”

Werding is not the only expert who sees holes in the new pension package, in which Heil, like Austria, also wants civil servants to pay into the pension fund.

However, there are also positive voices - especially from the traffic light coalition.

The Liberals in particular are celebrating the pension reform as a “huge success” despite all the criticism.

One aspect of Ampel's new pension package even earned special praise from within its own ranks.

The FDP parliamentary group leader Christian Dürr described the planned introduction of generational capital in pensions as a “reform of the century for Germany”.

Dürr told the

Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung

(

NOZ

) about the stock pension: “We would have more secure pensions and lower contributions today if we had introduced the capital stock earlier, but previous governments never had the strength for that.

We are now finally bringing more capital coverage into the pension system.”

Criticism of the stock pension in the new pension package: generational capital a “casino pension”

There have also been repeated allegations from politicians about the traffic light's new pension package.

In particular, stock pensions have repeatedly come into focus.

Sahra Wagenknecht and representatives of the Left accused the generational capital of being a “casino pension”.

VdK President Bentele also warned that “pensions are not a stock market game”.

There were even calls that the traffic lights were putting pensions at risk and that in the end even the contributors would have to be responsible for the stock pension.

Dürr, on the other hand, called the accusation in the

NOZ

“absurd” and apparently takes the view that the traffic light can save pensions with the new pension package.

“We are putting the pension on a broader footing and benefiting from the fact that we can generate returns on the stock markets.

In dozens of countries around the world, this form of pension provision means that people have a good income in old age.

This may still be a learning process for Germany, but we have to go through it.”

My news

  • “Most burdened”: A group has to really read the metal for the traffic light’s new pension package

  • Hubertus Heil wants a pension like in Austria: That's why pensioners in the neighboring country read more money

  • Quick change in the basic pension?

Supplements should “not be a pittance” for all pensioners

  • “Anyone who bought an oil or gas heater was lied to” read

  • Traditional fashion retailer from Baden-Württemberg is closing a branch in the big city at the end of the year

  • GDL rejects negotiations and gives Deutsche Bahn an ultimatum: read “Smoke Candles Again”.

After the pension package: Make retirement age more flexible – prevent “exploding social contributions”.

In order to prevent “exploding social contributions,” “the next step would be to make the retirement age more flexible and to further expand capital coverage.”

Dürr said: “It is our goal that the tax burden does not increase.

It must remain at 40 percent or, better yet, below.

The ancillary wage costs must be stabilized,” said the FDP parliamentary group leader.

With this statement, the FDP politician will probably not knock down any open doors with the SPD labor minister.

Finally, Heil found clear words about increasing the retirement age.

The SPD politician recently emphasized in a conversation with the newspapers of the

Funke media group

that “with us there will be no further increase in the statutory retirement age”.

In his opinion, “a pension at 69 or 70” would “also be a pension cut” for many hard-working people, for example in nursing and logistics.
