In the tranquil Marktoberdorf in the Allgäu, there is a fuss over the name of a dish that bothers a “modern, emancipated and Catholic-believing Christian”.

Excitement in the Allgäu: A customer complains to the owner of the restaurant about the name of a dish.

But he can't understand it at all.

Marktoberdorf – These days, cultural debates seem to be the order of the day.

Often it's about names.

One side sees it as no longer up to date, the other sees this very accusation as ridiculous, exaggerated and complains about the sensitivity of the critics.

It's often about names and terms.

The Café Mohrenkopf had to listen to a lot of criticism because the operators wanted to stick to the name, and then there was a fuss about renaming the Zigeunerschnitzel.

Everyone should also have a vivid picture of the discussion surrounding Karl May's Winnetou books.

Things are now heading in a similar direction in the tranquil Marktoberdorf in the Allgäu - but this time the criticism comes from the religious corner.

Christin complains about court names – and suggests an alternative

Thomas Blochum, owner of the Küchenmeisterei in Marktoberdorf, uploaded a photo to Facebook at the beginning of March showing a letter from a customer.

“The word for Sunday,” he wrote ironically.

In the letter, a customer of the restaurant complains - she is "very sad" that "pork belly & co are associated with our Triune God".

Background: In the dining master's menu, the dish “Homemade Pulled Pork 24h” is also referred to as the “Holy Trinity” because it includes pork neck, pork shoulder and pork belly.

The “modern, emancipated and Catholic Christian,” as she describes herself, remains very friendly in the letter.

“I suspect that as an Allgäu resident it is not entirely clear to you that this can be interpreted differently.

That's why I sincerely ask you to invent another name for what is sure to be a delicious dish." She suggests calling the dish "Three Musketeers" and closes the letter with the words: "I would be very grateful to you."

Owner Blochum publishes letter – and calls it an “insolence”

However, owner Thomas Blochum can't do much with the words of the devout Christian.

First of all, he explains that they (the catering department) were not the inventors of this neologism.

“We just used the BBQ scene (see Google search).” Then he makes it clear: “And no, we won’t change it!!!”

Blochum does not show any understanding for the letter, on the contrary: “This letter is an outrage, but it made a lot of people from our circle of friends laugh,” he writes at the end of the Facebook post.

His Facebook followers have the same opinion.

Another wrote: “Thanks for sharing.

This shows us once again what 'problems' people in this country think they have.” However, Blochum was unable to respond personally to the author of the letter - in the post he wrote that he could not find/reach her.
