in mourning – friend and companion Ian Farquhar is dead

After the confusion surrounding Princess Kate's health, of which the palace recently published the first official photo, his long-time companion Ian Farquhar recently died at the age of 78.

The traditional hunting club Beaufort Hunt confirmed this via Instagram on Friday (March 8th).

“It is with broken hearts that we send our love and condolences to the family and friends of our Captain Ian Farquhar, who led us so brilliantly for 34 years and passed away peacefully this week,” it said.

As

reports, Ian Farquhar is said to have been one of King Charles's closest entourage.

The 75-year-old and his wife Queen Camilla (76) regularly dined at Highgrove House, a royal country estate in southwest England.

Farquhar, who was considered a hunting luminary, also lived in a house on the extensive, partly wooded property.

He is said to have died there on Wednesday (March 6th).

Close friend and loyal servant of the family: It wasn't just King Charles who valued Ian Farquhar

Queen Mum (†101), the mother of Queen Elizabeth II (†96) and grandmother of King Charles, already trusted Ian Farquhar's services.

He served the British royal family as equerry for many years.

However, his friendship with King Charles arose later through Prince William's (41) short relationship with Farquhar's daughter Rose, with whom Prince Harry's older brother (39) was in a relationship for a few weeks when he was at school.

The king has not yet publicly commented on the death of his close friend.

Queen Camilla's first husband Andrew Parker Bowles (84) commented

on the death in the royal circle in

The Daily Mail .

Farquhar's death is "very sad", but not surprising: the 78-year-old's health has suffered greatly in recent months.

Farquhar was “wild as a hawk in his youth” and although he took work, he didn’t take life too seriously.

He will “go down in history as one of the greatest hunting masters,” said Bowles.

Charles doesn't have much time to mourn: Despite his cancer diagnosis, the king handles all sorts of tasks - he wants to relieve the burden on his family.
