Wolfratshausen is committed to renewable energies.

A particular focus is on balcony solar systems.

More and more systems are being subsidized.

Wolfratshausen – There are different ways to get electricity out of the socket.

The city would like to make things easier - and provide funding to help citizens who decide to install a small solar system on their balcony.

At first it was a successful model that found imitation in other municipalities.

Because technology continues to advance - and significantly faster than the legal framework - the building committee has adapted the guidelines for the photovoltaic funding program.

As reported, the old formalities caused a problem.

Electricity from the balcony: More systems are now being subsidized - who can have their PV system subsidized?

Last November, a large part of the funding was still in the pot: the city had to reject some applications for support from environmentally conscious citizens.

The systems that they wanted to install on the balcony exceeded the maximum performance that was intended: the municipality had supported 600 watts per household as the maximum total output - but the technical development of this type of electricity generation has now advanced.

Technology is getting better and better: the city now has money for it

“For some time now there have been mainly plug-in solar devices on the market that have a higher connected load, but can be throttled to the maximum permissible total output,” said the committee’s meeting submission.

For people who want to install a balcony power plant, it is “hardly possible to comply with the guidelines of the program to promote the expansion of photovoltaic systems”.

The city is taking countermeasures.

Mayor Klaus Heilinglechner: “We stick to the framework of the legislature,” and the legislature recently adjusted its funding guidelines and will in future also support plug-in solar devices with a total output of 800 watts.

The change applies immediately – and even retroactively until July 2023.

Balcony power plants for the energy transition: solar power is supported

This means that the city is moving faster than the government: the adjustment of the Renewable Energy Sources Act is not expected until autumn 2024.

There has been reason to act for a long time: As it became known to the building committee in December, only a very small part of the funding pot had been distributed: 70,000 euros were available, 60,000 euros were left.

As Heilinglechner explained at the committee's December meeting, there was a lot of interest in the city's funding program - even if the high remaining amount in the pot suggests otherwise.

However, many applications would have to be rejected due to technical details.

This involves work for the administration and himself.
