No jolts in the pedals, no squeaking brakes, no skipping gears and no more electric assistance which gives up after a few meters... The new Vélib', finally being deployed in around 1,500 stations of the “largest self-service bicycle network in the world”, attract users who have already had the chance to borrow them.
“I took a mechanical model.
It's very simple, the pedaling was so fluid and efficient that I sometimes had the impression of being on an electric Vélib'!
» jokes Elie, a thirty-year-old Parisian who is a frequent user of the service.
“Now when I arrive at the station, I systematically check to see if there are new models, there is less risk of unpleasant surprises,” adds Julie, 42, also Parisian, and holder of an annual V subscription. Max (the “premium” formula for renting electric Vélib’s).
