Madrid, “the new Miami”, as the Spanish press calls it?
Abandoning the El Dorado of Florida where the cost of living has increased significantly since Covid, collectors have arrived in large numbers in the Spanish capital.
Like Ella Fontanals-Cisneros, a globetrotter born in Cuba, living between Madrid, Venezuela and Punta Cana.
She repatriated most of her collection of 3,000 works to Spain and “
wants to give visibility to her artists in other countries,”
she explains.

The political and economic instability in Latin America, particularly in Argentina since the election of the populist Javier Milei, pushed us towards Madrid, a city close to our culture,”

In a warehouse a little away from the city center, one floor below that of Ella Fontanals-Cisneros, the couple shows during the Arco their artists (a majority of Latin Americans), purchased with flair before the rising prices.
