Hollywood dressed up this Sunday to celebrate the 96th edition of the Oscars at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.
The ceremony took place while hundreds protested near the theater against the Israeli offensive in Gaza.
The Academy Awards, coming after a tumultuous year marked by months of strikes in the industry, once again had host Jimmy Kimmel as master of ceremonies this year.
Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer
was the favorite film, with the most nominations (13), followed by
Killers of the Flower Moon
(10),
Poor Things
(10) and
Barbie
(8).
And Latinos also had a good year.
The Spanish film
Society of
the Snow
,
by Juan Antonio Bayona, which narrates the struggle of the survivors of the Andes air tragedy, was nominated for best international film and best makeup and hair design. .
Actress America Ferrera, of Honduran parents, was nominated for best supporting actress for her role in
Barbie
, which Da'Vine Joy Randolph, for
The Holdovers, ended up winning.
And Mexican photographer Rodrigo Prieto was nominated for best director of photography for his work on Martin Scorsese's
Killers of the Flower Moon
