Is the security of the Paris Olympic Games in danger after the thefts of two documents relating to the global event?
Guest on the set of C l'hebdo on France 5, Saturday March 9, Laurent Nuñez wanted to reassure about the protection of confidential documents on the holding of the sports competition.
On February 26, an engineer from Paris town hall had a USB key stolen in a station.
Fortunately, this did not contain notes on
“sensitive security devices”
, the prosecution indicated.
A week later, on March 4, a manager at the Avicenne hospital in Bobigny had her computer where documents concerning the Olympic Games were stored.
“Obviously, it’s not great when you have this responsibility of carrying around plans for the Olympics
,” admitted the police prefect.
Before reassuring about the content of these documents:
“In these two cases, it was not the plans to secure the Games.”
The official of the city of Paris had
“plans of signaling road lights and canals”

While the hospital manager had
“traffic plans”
, he said.
“Everyone is briefed”
“We are the ones who have the real security plans, it is my services, my colleagues, my teams. They are kept at the ministry in the greatest secrecy
,” he then insisted.
Laurent Nuñez, however, recalled the responsibility of the civil servant of the city of Paris who risks being sanctioned.
“There is a disciplinary dimension which will be taken into account by the city of Paris
,” he announced.
After these two incidents, the Paris police chief assured that
“everyone is briefed”
on the risks linked to security during the event.
Especially since the threat of a cyber attack is
“increasingly present”
