That didn't last long: the SPD local association gave up the concept of dual leadership - for the time being.

City councilor Leon Kozica (26) emerged from the annual general meeting as the only chairman.

Erding - His previous co-chair Melanie Schäfer did not run for office again for personal reasons and a successor was not found.

The party announced this in a press release; the media was not invited.

According to the announcement, the general meeting began well: SPD veteran Willi Scheib, who sat on the Erdinger city council for 14 years, was honored for his 40 years of party membership.

Scheib was also involved in the Erdinger DGB for many years.

Hermann Kronseder has also been a comrade for 40 years.

He was also a member of the city council and shaped the district youth group for a long time.

Kozica took stock of the past year, especially the state and district elections.

In the state election, the SPD got 6.0 percent in the Erding district, while direct candidate Benedikt Klingbeil ended up with 6.1 percent.

In the district there were 5.8 percent of the first votes and 5.7 for direct candidate Alexander Gutwill.

Kozica also recalled the 50th anniversary of the SPD women, which was celebrated with a ceremony and various events throughout the year.

He also turned his attention to the European elections on June 9th.

This is probably the first time it has become publicly known that he will be running himself.

Last but not least, he mentioned the federal election in 2025 and the local elections a year later in his forecast.

Kozica acknowledged a deficit: “There needs to be a more intensive and constant dialogue with citizens again, also independently of the election campaigns,” the message quoted him as saying.

“Especially against the background of strengthening our democracy, we want to implement new forms of communication with citizens,” emphasized the chairman.

Kozica was unanimously confirmed in the board elections.

The 19-year-old Klingbeil became the new deputy.

He is also the local Juso chairman.

Both are likely to be the youngest executive team of the Erdinger SPD in decades.

Ulrich Reinhardt continues to act as cashier.

Some of the long-standing board members no longer took part.

Katharina Hintermaier, previous deputy local chairwoman, as well as the former assessors Jutta Harrer - also a long-time city councilor - and Erdmann Schröter were farewelled with thanks and gifts following the election.

Finally, the assembly selected the Erdinger delegates for the sub-district party conference - in accordance with the statutes and the gender quota usual in the SPD.
