Unfortunately, hopes of seeing the Israeli government and Hamas sign a second truce agreement on Sunday evening since the start of the war sparked by the October 7 attack appear to be fading.
Gathered in Cairo by the mediating powers (Egypt, Qatar and the United States), representatives of the Palestinian Islamist movement left Thursday affirming that they would make “no compromise on their demands”.
American President Joe Biden, for his part, admitted on Friday that it would be “difficult” to obtain a ceasefire before the start of the Muslim month of fasting, a goal that he had nevertheless set for himself at the beginning of March.
