State road 2072, which is in need of renovation, the future of the Walchensee power plant and vandalism problems on the south bank were topics at the citizens' meeting in Jachenau.

Jachenau

– There are increasing problems with vandalism at Walchensee.

Mayor Klaus Rauchberger reported this on Sunday at the Jachenau citizens' meeting in front of around 80 interested people in the “Schützenhaus”.

The parking machines on the south bank are repeatedly victims of destructive behavior, said the town hall boss.

It also happens more often that portable toilets are knocked over.

“Keep your eyes open,” Rauchberger called on the citizens.

“Damage to property is not a joke, but a crime.

So call the police immediately if you see anything.”

Jachenau collected 138,000 euros in parking fees at Walchensee

In 2023, the municipality collected around 138,000 euros in parking fees on the south bank of Walchensee, as shown in the report by municipal treasurer Felix Kellner.

However, this is offset by expenses for toilets, parking lot maintenance, garbage disposal and the maintenance of the machines, where there are “a brutal number of disruptions,” explained Rauchberger.

The mayor had previously presented an outline of the most important points of the community's work over the past year.

He recalled that the addition to the recycling center had been completed, as had a pavilion at the school.

The cemetery wall was given a new shingle roof and a new bus shelter was erected in Petern.

A toy shelter is under construction at the kindergarten.

The sports field got a new floodlight system.

The forecourt at the Jachenau village shop has been redesigned

In the village, the village shop forecourt was redesigned in collaboration with owner Peter Krauß.

Rauchberger was pleased that Krauß bought the village shop building and thus secured the future of the business.

This year the 25th anniversary is celebrated.

According to Rauchberger, the largest expenditure item in the Jachenauer budget for 2024 will be investments in water supply.

Renovation and modernization measures on deep wells and high storage tanks are essential here.

The mayor also summarized the status of the ongoing issue of cycle paths.

Here the federal government has now agreed to pay for the expensive option of relocating the state road into the slope of the Brunnenberg at the bottleneck between the sports field and Friedelweide in order to create space for the cycle path.

This means that the next section from farms to the school can probably be built in 2025.

The municipality commissioned the planning for the construction section between Raut and Höfen.

On the last stretch from the school to the village, “we still don’t have access to the necessary exchange areas,” says Rauchberger.

“It’s sad, but there’s nothing going on.”

Holes on State Road 2072 are now being filled

Construction on flood protection on the Große Laine is also likely to begin in 2025. The planning approval decision - i.e. the building permit - is now available, said the mayor.

The community leader was unable to report anything new about State Road 2072, the renovation of which he has been vehemently demanding from the State Building Authority for years.

According to the most recent report in our newspaper, the road maintenance department regularly comes “with five bags of cold tar and fills up the holes,” said the mayor.

But when it comes to sustainable renovation, “all you hear is that there is no money.”

District Administrator Josef Niedermaier, who was a guest at the citizens' meeting, saw "a bit of hope" in the medium term on the topic.

He advised the mayor of Jachenau: “Don’t stop nagging.”

Citizens demand: assert the interests of Jachenau at the Walchensee power plant

In one of the few comments from citizens, Stefan Rinner addressed the water rights at Walchensee.

Because water is diverted to operate the power plant system, “the groundwater level continues to fall.”

The community must “be behind ensuring that Jachenau receives more benefits and compensation in the future.”

Niedermaier said that everything indicates that the Uniper Group will soon submit an application for a new grant of the water rights, which expire in 2030.

In the process, those responsible for public affairs – including the municipality of Jachenau – would then have the opportunity to present their position.

In order to explore the interests of the district, the district council has already set up its own working group.

District office creates a “high security wing” due to threats

Anton Lippert contacted the district administrator directly.

“The district office is like a high-security wing,” he said.

“You used to be able to do a lot of things on the fly, but now nothing can be done without an appointment.

That’s really annoying.”

The district office would like to be an open house, replied Niedermaier.

However, measures to protect employees are also necessary.

“We have had massive incidents, which is why police operations take place regularly,” he said.

There are threats of violence particularly against employees of the youth welfare office.

That's why security measures are essential.

In order to improve access to the district office, the entrance area will be rebuilt so that the reception will move from inside the building directly to the front.

Jost Gudelius addressed the topic of “Banning and Wuhrholz”.

Many years ago, the local chronicler described it as a historical injustice that the community never got back the forest areas it was entitled to, which had once belonged to the state through secularization.

“Will this topic be taken up again?” Rauchberger replied: “There is another side to your presentation.” But he will raise the point again in the local council.
