For three years she has been committed to cultural exchange with the French sister city of Chamalières.
Edith Peter has now been confirmed in office as chairwoman of the partnership association.
Geretsried – For three years she has been at the forefront of cultural exchange with the French twin town of Chamalières.
Edith Peter can now continue the diverse tasks associated with it until 2026.
26 of 27 members who appeared recently expressed their trust in the former SPD city councilor in the meeting room of the town hall.
Edith Peter also agreed to take over the position of the outgoing secretary Christine Schmid.
Like her husband Thomas, who was previously second chairman, she decided to temporarily withdraw from the board.
Instead, Geretsried's head of cultural affairs, Anita Zwicknagl, and Ursula Küpfer stood for election.
In a secret vote, 20 of 26 ballot papers ultimately went to Zwicknagl.
Mayor Müller is also a member of the extended board
There was no change in the subsequent re-election of the treasurer.
As before, Peter Taubert is supported by the auditor duo Cornelia Irmer and Ewald Kailberth.
The extended club management also includes Mayor Michael Müller, cultural officer Hans Ketelhut and third mayor Gerhard Meinl.
High number of visitors at the Christmas market stand
Before the new elections, Edith Peter looked back on the events of the past year.
In addition to the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the town twinning in Auvergne, what she remembers most is the successful student exchange and the high number of visitors at the stand of the twinning association's Christmas market.
Treasurer Peter Taubert pointed out that the very cheap sale of high-quality cheese and wine still resulted in a four-digit loss.
The increased prices for bus journeys to France also hit the books.
However, thanks to generous subsidies from the city totaling 27,000 euros, the club, which currently has 87 members, is on solid footing.
This year the money will also go towards providing extensive care and catering for the French guests who will be visiting Geretsried from July 3rd to 7th.
Students from Chamalières come in March
In addition, students from Chamalières will be welcomed this March.
However, it is not yet clear whether a planned music partnership day on June 21st and a joint city cycle can be realized.

Mayor Müller still sees the German-French friendship as an important sign of reconciliation between the once enemy countries.
“Unfortunately, there are currently much worse examples in Europe,” said the town hall boss.
