A little hyaluronic acid for fuller lips.

A little Botox for a firm forehead.

A fat-removal injection for prominent cheekbones.

Anyone who lies down on the couch in the Jaws & Faces practice clinic in Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn places their face in the hands of plastic surgeon Professor Florian Stelzle.

Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn – That takes courage.

And trust.

“Nobody wants to have their face changed,” says cosmetic surgeon Florian Stelzle.

Three years ago, the 52-year-old and his wife opened a practice clinic for the mouth, jaw and face in Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn.

The couple recently launched the podcast “Face it!”

After graduating from high school, Florian Stelzle already knew: “I want to become a plastic surgeon.” During his year of practice in Oxford, the aspiring doctor discovered facial surgery.

In Germany this is only possible with a medical and dental degree.

“That makes sense,” he explains.

“The upper and lower jaw make up half of the face.” The teeth are essential for lip support – and therefore for a radiant smile.

What fascinates Stelzle: “You can’t hide your face.

It’s the first thing anyone sees.”

The trend of having your face optimized continues unabated

When the surgeon talks to patients about the procedures, he senses their fear.

It's not just about self-evaluation, but also the effect on others.

During the Corona period, many employees worked from home.

In an online meeting, you see yourself on the monitors. “It’s different than when I stand alone in front of the mirror in the morning.” Studies in aesthetic plastic surgery refer to this as a zoom face because one of the most common platforms is “Zoom " is called.

“Aesthetic facial surgery boomed during this time,” says Stelzle.

This is ebbing a bit because more people are going to the office again.

The trend to have one's face optimized is still unstoppable.

Both in women and increasingly in men.

People decide to have cosmetic procedures for two different reasons.

“First, we accompany the aging process,” says Stelze.

In the initial consultation he tries to find out what is bothering the patient.

The wrinkles, sagging skin, sinking areas of fat, tired eyes.

“Some people want Botox, but thread surgery is the better option.” The doctor and patient determine the procedure in a timetable.

First up is the frown line.

Later, tighter eyelid areas ensure youthfulness and freshness.

A third step is the repositioning of removed fat areas.

Young women want prominent cheekbones and full lips

The second group is young people whose individuality is not expressed on their faces.

“A man with a receding chin appears feminine,” explains Stelzle.

If this doesn't suit your energetic personality, the surgeon can make the angles of the jaw more masculine.

Reversible with fillers or permanent with bone repositioning.

Young women want prominent cheekbones and full lips.

The Russian Lips trend is currently going back to naturally voluminous lip shaping.

With hyaluronic acid, this procedure can also be removed after six months.

The same applies to other games.

“A young woman likes a snub nose now, but certainly not in ten years.” Stelzle's practice doesn't just affect the rich and famous.

He does upper eyelid lifts for people who have saved up the money.

In recent years, treatments have become cheaper – and more accepted.

“The younger generation in particular doesn’t hide an operation,” says Stelzle.

On the contrary: the girls post on Instagram when the surgeon has done their lips.

“They show the world that they are doing something good for themselves.

It’s no longer a taboo topic.”

If someone wants to look like Brad Pitt 20 years ago, Stelzle refuses the treatment

But not every patient is sure about themselves.

In initial interviews, Stelzle is often asked whether it is reprehensible not to be satisfied with oneself.

“I don’t want to judge.

Everyone has to think about it for themselves.” Society as a whole should not decide on this.

He asks: “Is it okay to put the ears back on a boy with protruding ears?”

He won't be teased anymore after that.

Sure, he would become really strong if he could endure that.

But does it have to be like that?” This debate leads to no end.

Because then bleaching or contact lenses would also be reprehensible.

But there is a red line.

If someone wants to look like Brad Pitt 20 years ago, they refuse treatment.

Otherwise, Stelzle follows a clear philosophy: “If patients leave my practice and smile more often just once a day, we have made the world a better place.”
