Fort-de-France: several fires started after the arrest of an “activist”

On Sunday noon, the Martinique gendarmerie came to arrest Hervé Pinto in Trois-Ilets, in an area to which he was prohibited from going, after being presented to the judge of liberties on Thursday.

A matter of inheritance

The person who presents himself as an activist claims to be the heir to land in the municipality from which he was allegedly robbed and on which a residence was built.

Its residents, intimidated for years by Hervé Pinto and his support group, had taken legal action.

The man is forbidden to approach them, and even the neighborhood in which the residence is located.

Questioned by AFP, the public prosecutor of Fort-de-France indicated that Hervé Pinto had been incarcerated at the Ducos penitentiary center on Sunday evening, after the judge of freedoms had revoked his judicial control.

“Investigations will be carried out to arrest the perpetrators and punish this unacceptable behavior

,” the prefecture said in a press release.

In order to maintain order, the Martinique gendarmerie deployed a squadron to reinforce the police and the police should patrol all night in Fort-de-France, General William Vaquette told AFP, commander of the Martinique gendarmerie.
