Saint-Ouen thinks big.
After Podolsk (Russia), Rousse (Bulgaria), Terni (Italy), Salford (England) and Rio de Janeiro (in December), it signed a new twinning arrangement with Los Angeles (United States) on Saturday.
In terms of international cooperation, it embraces the Olympic motto: “Faster, higher, stronger, together”.
“LA”, a Californian megalopolis with incomparable influence, stretches over 1,300 km2 with its 3.8 million inhabitants (18 million in the metropolitan area), its prestigious universities and Hollywood, its dream factory.
Without comparison, Saint-Ouen has 53,207 inhabitants (2021 census) and only covers 4.31 km2.
But it is a booming city that will be one of the beating hearts of the next Olympic and Paralympic Games (OPG).
This summer, it will welcome part of the village of 17,000 athletes with Saint-Denis and L'Île-Saint-Denis.
