In the video: we met the stand-up comedian Belha Toran, who told, among other things, about the "Mermaids" festival/Editor: Gilad Mann Mannheim
Almost half a year has passed since October 7, that black Sabbath that changed the lives of the vast majority of Israeli citizens from end to end.
That cursed day during which hundreds of Israelis were murdered and kidnapped disrupted everyone's plans, including ours.
A few weeks before Black Sabbath we met with Belha Thorn and the "Mermaids" - a parliament made up of senior citizens who meet every week to talk about life, career and everything in between.
We met a happy, inspiring group, who only want to assist and help.
Almost half a year later, we got to meet Belha again to hear from her how the last period has passed for her and how, if at all, they continue to do stand-up.
"The first day was complete confusion," recalls Belha, a former teacher and now a stand-up comedian.
"All of the women here have been through a lot of wars, but what a difference compared to the current war. I had no children, I had no responsibility, I was not afraid. There were alarms - so what? Then we sat down and thought about what each of us could contribute because the contribution was necessary here."
"I myself was ashamed to go and offer my humor," adds Belha.
"I thought it was not the time, until I happened to come across a group of evacuees from the south who were suffering terribly. They gave me a limited time and at the end people came up to me and hugged me and said: 'Thank you, thank you! I haven't laughed since 10/7.'"

At that moment Belha and her friends realized that humor is essential, certainly in the current situation.
"As soon as I realized this, we started moving around, me and my daughter Galia Toren Chen in the camps of women reservists who were happy that we had arrived," notes Belha.
"I have tears in my eyes when I remember it, I got so many hugs."
