The day before the
storm
that caused flooding in several neighborhoods of
La Matanza
, among other municipalities, Mayor
Fernando Espinoza
assured that thanks to his management and that of Verónica Magario
"we are no longer flooded
. "
"Before it rained 100 millimeters and we had 25,000 evacuees. Now it rains 200 millimeters and because of the hydraulic works we did,
La Matanza does not have a single evacuee
," he said in his opening speech of sessions in the Deliberative Council.
The reference is to the so-called "largest public works megaplan in the history" of that district, with paving tasks, hydraulic works and tunnels, which are part of the comprehensive project to improve the urban environment.
However, after the intense fall of water during the morning, the streets of the neighborhoods of La Matanza
woke up under water, and even with flooded areas
.
"Espinoza opened the sessions at the HCD boasting about works in the district. Today messages, photos and videos do not stop arriving from families whose houses are flooded, streets impossible to navigate and workers' cars that are covered in water," he denounced. in X (ex Twitter) the left-wing councilor Juan Romero.
The leader of the Workers' Party also added that less than 24 hours had passed since Mayor Espinoza's statements "that
reality shows the enormous precariousness of the district
."
Videos keep coming in of the streets and houses of La Matanza completely flooded, you can't live like that.
Espinoza and Kicillof are responsible, a real works plan is needed and restitution for the families of their material losses.

Romero spoke of a "dramatic situation", he said that "it is very difficult to move around the district", that at school entry time it was impossible to get there, that the peripheral neighborhoods are the most affected and that in areas like Isidro Casanova there are homes with 50 or 70 centimeters of water.
"Schools have not yet been opened as evacuee centers, but in some cases, such as Primary 210 in Barrio Nicolo, at kilometer 35 in Virrey del Pino, families had approached," he told Clarín.
This Tuesday, according to data from the National Meteorological Service, the amount of water that fell until 8 in the morning reached 120 millimeters, the normal amount but for the entire month of March.
In addition, a large number of videos from different areas of La Matanza with images of completely flooded streets are circulating on social networks.
The area is particularly complicated because the municipality has 17 streams and the floods will also impact the area.
One of those that even became a trend were the images of the underpass, called "Garrafa" Sánchez, inaugurated in Laferrere last year together with the then presidential candidate Sergio Massa and which was completely covered by water.
The national deputy of the Left Front Unidad Romina del Plá also echoed the complaints about the floods.
"Espinoza and Kicillof are responsible, a real works plan is needed and restitution for the families of their material losses," he wrote through networks.
"The new streets, which materialize in 5,000 new paved and bumpy blocks, bring progress, development, dignity, equality of conditions and unite us. Where we see asphalt today, large hydraulic works passed before. Each of the new pavements form the backbone of the public works megaplan that we strategically distribute and that includes large underpasses, highways, accesses, squares, new green spaces, resurfacing, potholes and road signs, schools, kindergartens, among many other works," Espinoza expressed yesterday during a tour of the works.
The most relevant works framed in the megaplan also included new five underpasses that the district will have (three in Laferrere, one in González Catán and another in San Justo) and the repaving, enhancement and lighting of Route 21 , among other
The national legislator and teacher also explained that it was impossible for her to reach Aldo Bonzi's school located in San Justo and La Rotonda. "This is what the central area is like, but in the neighborhoods near the river and streams, it is even worse.
Espinoza boasted yesterday of the works and La Matanza is under water
", concluded Del Plá.
