The last “Heimatdamisch” story by Hans Kiening was published twelve years ago.

Now he has written another, fifth episode.

It will soon be released as a podcast - and the other episodes will also be available online.

Lenggries/Bad Tölz – With “Heimatdamisch” Hans Kiening from Tölzer literally wrote history: With the fictional character Johann Knöbel, Hans Kiening brought his childhood and youth memories in the Tölzer Land to life in a charming Bavarian narrative style.

Episodes one to four were released on CD, some with music, and Kiening, who now lives in Lenggries, also organized readings several times.

In recent years things have become quiet about “Heimatdamisch”.

A film project was once planned, but it came to nothing.

Kienig doesn't mourn him.

His stories, he says, are ultimately cinema for the head.

Kiening: “It’s a little more prosaic now”

Now the stories will be revived again.

Kiening is currently working on part five.

It is the period from 2009 and includes work and family.

“Anyone who knows the first parts will now notice how not only my voice has changed, but also the way I tell the story and also the topics it’s about,” says Kiening, referring to his own development during this time .

It’s no longer the “Ludwig Thoma rascal style,” says the 56-year-old.

“I don't want that, and that's not how it should be.

It’s a little more prosaic now, as I would describe it.”

A first version already exists, Kiening is still working on the fine-tuning.

What you can already tell is that it's always about the film camera industry, in which Kiening worked for many years, and that he chats with fine humor.

For legal reasons, companies and people have different names so that they cannot be recognized.

“Not a commercial project”

The story will not be released on CD, but as a free podcast on the Spotify platform.

Kiening plans to upload the old episodes week by week shortly, with part five coming at the end.

“It’s not a commercial project,” says Kiening.

He doesn't want to make money from it.

Rather, his wish would be for listeners to donate to projects “that promote democracy or independent quality journalism,” says the 56-year-old, citing the podcasts “State of the Nation” and “jung und naive” as examples.

He wants to put the relevant links in the notes under each episode.

How does he judge his old episodes today?

Kiening becomes thoughtful.

“I wouldn't write some of the first parts the same way today, but it stays that way now, just like the title.” He struggles with the term “Heimatdamisch” today.

“It just comes from that time.

I wouldn’t vote for him today because everything about homeland is being overused by the wrong people.”

A band emerged from the readings

The band “The Heimatdamisch” also emerged from Kiening’s “Heimatdamisch” stories.

The music for episodes three and four was created together with the musician Florian Rein.

Rein was then asked whether the music – Bavarian interpretations of pop hits – also existed without the readings, and so the band “The Heimatdamisch” was formed, with which Rein is now internationally successful.

What motivated Kiening for part five?

“The joy of writing,” he says.

“There is no message in the text.

I enjoy telling stories and ordinary things.” If the response is good, he can imagine doing a reading with the new piece.
