The diagnosis of blood cancer turned Peter (67)'s life upside down.

In order to beat the disease, he urgently needs a stem cell donation.

An appointment now gives hope.

Rudelzhausen

– Peter from Mainburg is a helpful person who loves his family, music and nature.

Now the 67-year-old is dependent on help himself.

He suffers from blood cancer and needs a stem cell donation.

His “genetic twin” is to be found during a registration campaign in Rudelzhausen.

The world stops and nothing is the same anymore - that's how it felt for 67-year-old Peter from Mainburg when he was diagnosed with blood cancer on February 12th this year.

In order to get healthy again, he now urgently needs a stem cell donation, but to date the global search for his “genetic twin” has unfortunately been unsuccessful.

On March 17th, all citizens in Rudelzhausen now have the opportunity to become a lifesaver and hero - by taking a harmless mouth swab for DKMS registration as a potential stem cell donor.

This day could be crucial in making Peter's greatest wish come true: “I want to see my grandson Nils grow up.”

Family man, fisherman and cheerful nature

February 12th was a very difficult day for Peter because he received the diagnosis of “blastic plasmacytoid dentritic cell neoplasia, BPDCN for short - a rare form of blood cancer in which certain cells of the non-specific immune system are degenerated.

Normally Peter has Bavarian wisdom ready for every situation and doesn't take himself too seriously, but on this difficult day he became quiet.

Peter's great support: his fiancée Margit, who stands at his bedside every day and always puts a smile on his face.

There is great sympathy because Peter is no stranger to his homeland and the region.

He has been a musician and fisherman since he was a child - two passions that he was happy to pass on to future generations.

Until a few weeks ago, the 67-year-old taught at the Vohberg fishing club and instilled a love of nature - as well as music - in his two sons Dominik and David.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

Grandfather hopes for stem cell donation – wants to see grandchildren grow up

The three of them have been on many a stage, and Peter is particularly well-known and popular in the Landshut area with his blues voice and his guitar sound.

Those around him appreciate him not only for his many talents, but above all for his helpful, understanding and honest nature.

Peter's greatest wishes: to be able to continue accompanying the lives of his sons and grandson - and to be able to marry his fiancée Margit.

After all the difficult days, Peter longs for the beautiful moments in his family, simply because they are the most important thing in his life.

“Grandpa Bäda,” and family friends Julia and Manuela Geschwindt, who are currently helping with the typing campaign, said this, “just wants to see his little Nils grow up and tell him everything about the forest.”

Registration with DKMS: Enter data using a cheek swab

And that's what Peter wants to do again: read one crime novel after another, roam the woods for hours with his dog "Ella" and philosophize about every little plant.

Peter now needs a stem cell donation so that these wishes can come true.

Registering for this is easy: After filling out a consent form, the donors take a buccal swab using a cotton swab so that their tissue characteristics can be determined in the laboratory.

Donors who have already registered in the past do not need to participate again.

Once recorded, data continues to be available to patients worldwide.
